As a newcomer to the vintage/thrift shopping scene, I’ve been thoroughly scouring the various treasure troves housing classic closet staples that have stood the test of time. With technology at the forefront of shopping these days, I want to divulge, with you all, my favorite online locales for finding outfit inspiration and purchasing vintage!
Instagram Shops
The increasing demand for visual content has led to a series of virtual shops and boutiques popping up all over Instagram. Instagram’s new feature, adding multiple images to one post, streamlines the decision-making process for potential buyers.
Some of these Instagram stores are supplements to Etsy stores (see next), with items posted as they are available, as well as first-come, first-served. So, if you find something you adore and know it is a must-have, you better press send on that DM before someone else snatches it up.
My personal favorites:
1) Courtyard L.A.
2) Na Nin Vintage
3) Les Fleurs Vintage
Etsy
Like Instagram shops, Etsy stores essentially run the same way. The key differences I’ve identified are that you are provided with more details about an item on Etsy, and you can search clothing by category.
My personal favorites:
1) Persephone Vintage (IG: @persephonevint)
2) Passport Vintage (IG: @passportvintage)
eBay
True story: I purchased this Armani blazer on eBay for $15. Some of the bloggers I follow defend eBay as a trusted resource for buying vintage, so I deemed it necessary to give it a try. As you can see, I have definitely become a believer myself.
