The older I get, the less I want to settle on a “cute top and jeans” for a night out. Life’s too short to keep jumping on the sartorial bandwagon.
For this look, I took a tumble back in time to the ’70s, an era whose nostalgic style was successfully resurrected last year. I’ve been struggling with the words to describe the overall feel of this outfit, so I’ve decided on glam gypsy-disco queen. The top pays homage to the bell-sleeve trend of the time. The velvet texture softens the dramatic vibe of the sleeves to create a more romantic look. I like that the top features a more conservative, high neckline in the front and a daring plunge in the back. This way, the sleeves receive all the attention they deserve.
The sequined skirt is a testament to the various reasons why I love Nasty Gal. The shop’s throwbacks to retro and vintage styles make me appreciative of how much fashion has transformed over time. Basically, badass never goes out of style. Dress confidently and comfortably, and the world is your oyster.
