Playing with Patchwork

Fall is finally starting to creep up on New York City, and I couldn’t be happier. With the exception of EVERYTHING that is pumpkin spice, I am welcoming my favorite season with open arms and a very vulnerable wallet (sweaters are my weakness).

With the help of my trusty denim patchwork dress from ASOS (which I wore backwards because who reads tags anymore anyways?!), I decided to give layering another go. This dress has me channeling my inner Twiggy/’60s mod child and pledging allegiance to an era replete with shift dresses and color-blocking. Plus, it presents an alternative style of wearing denim in the autumn months, especially if paired with a turtleneck underneath.

And what would this outfit be without my cherished chunky-heeled boots from Topshop? Answer: NADA. The boots add a little ’90s flair to a ’60s-inspired outfit, and you can’t go wrong with merging two periods of style into one. Honestly, I never expected I’d be breaking the boots out this late in the year, so I’m glad I could dust them off with a little fresh air. Here’s hoping this won’t be the last time they appear in 2016.
