When it comes to styling, I am a firm proponent of marrying retro with contemporary. Yes, I am well-aware that you all know this about me by now. In my defense, repetition runs in my mother’s side of the family. You can’t mess with genetics, man.
But I digress. Today, I’m demonstrating my merging of past and present sartorialism through stripes. From nautical to bold and colorful, the trend knows no bounds. As you can see here, I’ve become a huge fan of the contrast panel side stripe.
I adore the side stripe because it adds a little “oomph”to an otherwise solid garment. Don’t get me wrong, I love my solids; but the contrast panels provide this outfit with some added structure in a casual way.
Then, there’s the union between vintage and modern–a true match made in heaven. The turtleneck emits a blend of ’70s and ’80s vibes, while the trousers follow the recent track-pant trend, courtesy of “athleisure”.
To accessorize, I decided to break out my new favorite handbag from the Frankie Shop. When I say favorite, I mean FAVORITE. It’s added a vintage touch to every look I’ve worn, and the ring handle is simply a dream.
