From skirts to animal prints, I’ve been slowly, but surely, breaking out of my sartorial shell. Red has replaced black (GASP!) as my new favorite color, and I am willing to take more risks with my personal style than ever before. In a way, I attribute this change to the lovely people in my life who challenge me to quit playing it safe and hone my creative talents, rather than suppress them.
As some of you might know, I have decided to resume creative writing. Even when I wasn’t writing, I found myself being pulled toward poetry. The terse, yet cutting words of Rupi Kaur, Nayyirah Waheed and more, left me ravenously craving what I once loved. The thing is, I never stopped loving poetry. I think I just convinced myself that I didn’t have anything left to say. Additionally, my poetry thoughts were my most private thoughts. I wasn’t sure if I wanted the world to know what was brewing inside of me.
When I nervously revealed my comeback on social media, I was floored by the outpouring of support from my friends and followers. It’s not easy for me to bare my heart and soul to just anyone, but the overall positive response meant a great deal to me, and it reinforced my eagerness to share this part of myself with you all.
Just like the bold prints and colors embodied in this look, the spirit of Sweet Blog of Mine’s creative revolution is fueled by confidence, fierceness and heart. Welcome to the jungle, friends. Things are about to heat up.
